  • Total Time: ~45 minutes
  • Yields: 2 dozen

  • 1¾ sticks of unsalted butter, finely sliced
  • 2 cups of light brown sugar, divided
  • ¼ cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon of baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium pot, melt 10 tablespoons of butter on medium heat. Once browned, combined in a bowl with the remaining cold butter and let cool for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix ¼ cup of brown sugar with the ¼ cup of regular sugar. Once all lumps are gone, set this mixture aside.
  4. In a third bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and baking powder. Yet again, set this mixture aside.
  5. Now that the melted butter is cooled, stir in rest of the brown sugar and salt. Add the whole egg, egg yolk and vanilla extract and mix thoroughly.
  6. Mix in the flour mixture until it’s fully combined, forming a dough.
  7. Drop small balls of dough onto your cookie sheets roughly 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12-14 minutes.
  9. Love at First Bite!

Rolling the dough in brown sugar doubles down on brown sugar flavor while adding a crackly texture to the exterior.
